Words used in the vanity URL add weight to your cause or school’s profile page, and boost it higher in Google and Yahoo! search rankings. Therefore, your URL should always reflect your cause or school’s name.

For local chapters of your organization, it is recommended to include the city or state to differentiate your chapter from other local chapters.

Keep the URL short and easy to memorize, especially if you are going to publish it in print. Longer URLs are more difficult to remember and prone to typos.

Do not use trademarked or registered brands for which you do not own the trademark or registered mark.

Do not use racial, sexual, or discriminatory words. Read all guidelines for creating vanity URLs.

  • Why doesn’t my contribution check match contributions report?

OneCause reports transactions based on the "Transaction Date" or the date of the actual purchase. By doing it this way you can more accurately see your purchases as they happen, but it does create discrepancies between the contribution check amount and the contributions earned for a given quarter: The contributions may not be paid by merchants for up to 45 days after the purchase date. As a result, new contributions can come in for a given quarter after the check for that quarter has been sent out. The contributions that come in later will roll over into the next quarter's check.
